Please note (as a precautionary measure only), pregnant women are not advised to perform the exercises but are suggested to attend in order to observe others and learn TRE so they can be used as soon as possible after birth.

People enrolled in the level 1 certification program are able to gain a maximum of 4 hours credit (in a group setting) towards their level 1 supervision hours by re-attending days 2 and 3 of a level 1 workshop or by attending all 3 days of a level 2 workshop. Please note credit is no longer available for re-attending a 1 day/first day of a level 1 workshop unless as an assistant as determined with the presenter. (as at 18/12/11)

1 Day Workshop Overview:

1 day workshops (6 PD hours) are suitable for all members of the public seeking an introduction to TRE for personal use or to experience TRE before registering for the additional 2 days of the workshop to gain a more thorough experience, understanding and integration of the TRE process for personal use or to learn to teach TRE to family and friends or as a pre-requisite to enrolment in the additional professional accreditation program. The 1 day workshop will cover:

  • What is stress, trauma and ‘innocent’ trauma that affects many of us without us even being aware of it
  • How do our bodies respond to stress and trauma
  • What happens when we don’t resolve stress and trauma
  • Why we naturally shake and tremor when we are overwhelmed
  • Why we don’t naturally use these tremors in daily life
  • Guidance through TRE twice under supervision including cautions
  • How to use TRE for ongoing personal use

3 Day Workshop Overview:

3 day workshops (18 PD hours) are recommended in order to gain a more thorough experience, understanding and integration of TRE into daily life for ongoing personal use through understanding the way stress and daily life ‘triggers’ provide opportunities for growth and reintegration of past trauma through the ongoing awareness of the 3 main neurophysiological states of social engagement (baseline), fight or flight and freeze. The 3 day workshop incorporates learning to teach TRE to family and friends and is a pre-requisite to enrolling in the additional Level 1 Professional Accreditation training program (min 10hrs) to learn to teach TRE to individuals professionally. As a 1 day workshop is the same as the first day of the 3 day workshop, days 2 and 3 will additionally cover:

  • Our 3 primary body based states in response to stress and trauma – social engagement, fight and flight and freeze
  • How an awareness of these states automatically down regulates our nervous system to a more calm relaxed state
  • How daily life ‘triggers’  act as a catalyst for growth, enhanced wellbeing and the resolution of past stress and trauma
  • How the tremors assist us to build resiliency and greater capacity to integrate future stress and trauma
  • Guidance through TRE twice daily under supervision including cautions
  • Teaching TRE to other trainees to deepen personal understanding of the process and learn to teach family and friends TRE
  • Overview of Level 1 training Accreditation requirements if seeking to teach TRE to individuals professionally.

3 Day level 2 workshops are only open to people who have completed level 1 certification or are enrolled and actively engaged in the level 1 or level 2 training program. Trainees enrolled in level 1 training who have not completed a minimum of 8 level 1 supervision hours are able to attend the level 2 workshop as credit towards level 1 supervision hours (see level 2 certification for details)

3 day level 2 workshops:

3 Day Level 2 workshops are for those seeking professional certification to lead groups through TRE* who have already completed or are actively engaged in level 1 certification training . Workshops syllabus will be determined by Dr David Berceli according to training needs at the time. The workshop will cover a similar syllabus however in more depth and with greater focus and context on working specifically with the tremors and their movement through the body rather than purely introducing people to the exercises as at level 1.(*see certification for additional requirements for Level 2 professional certification )
1/2 day introductory workshops are also available for corporates, professional groups or organisations to learn the TRE process as a stress and trauma self management tool. These workshops can be fully sponsored or organised on a per person basis with a minimum number requirement.

Future Australian Workshops:

We aim to provide to workshops in flood, cyclone and earthquake affected areas in Australia and New Zealand and simply require an invitation from local communities or recovery organisations to provide a workshop. Please contact Richmond at treaustralia@hotmail.com if you are able to assist in providing this vital self empowring process to communities affected by these natural disasters.

Privately funded workshops for groups and organisations:

Intensive workshops for professional groups and organisations are available to learn the TRE process as a stress and trauma self management tool. These workshops can be fully sponsored or organised on a per person basis with a minimum number requirement. The workshop is run by a physiotherapist – Richmond Heath – from Trauma Release Australia who has presented at conferences and trainings internationally and has a diverse background in public, cross cultural, physical and mental health.
If you are interested in hosting a 1/2 day workshop for your group, clients or organisation, please contact Richmond here

He has run 1/2 day ,level 1 and level 2 trainings around Australia and New Zealand including to bushfire survivors in Vicotria, flood survivors in QLD and earthquake survivors in New Zealand and has a broad background in mental health, community health, Bowen Therapy, Pilates and suicide prevention.

Through your warmth, friendliness and openness, and the clarity and professionalism of your facilitation, you created a very safe environment in which we could allow ourselves to fully experience the exercises and tremors.  Afterwards, I felt calm, relaxed, centered, grounded and my mind was still and peaceful (something that happens rarely!)”
